VisitBritain appoints new Head of Business Events

VisitBritain has announced the appointment of Paul Black as Head of Business Events.

Paul is an experienced destination sales and marketing professional having worked with leading tourism organisations and convention bureaus from all over the world.

Starting his new role this week, he will be responsible for leading VisitBritain/VisitEngland’s Business Events team as it focuses on winning more international events across the UK, showcasing British destinations and expertise and helping to rebuild the sector. He will do this alongside Government and industry partners.

VisitBritain/VisitEngland deputy CEO Patricia Yates said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul to the role of Head of Business Events, with his experience and knowledge of the industry and his proven track record of sales and strategic consultancy.

“Following a difficult time for the business events sector, it is more crucial than ever that we are able to support UK destinations, venues and suppliers in their recovery.

“Through the work that Paul and his team will deliver, we are confident we can secure major international business events and continue to showcase why the UK is a leading choice for the MICE sector.”

Paul Black said: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of Head of Business Events and looking forward to meeting as many people as possible in the sector as I review how VisitBritain/VisitEngland should focus its efforts to deliver value to the industry.”

An experienced destination sales and marketing professional, Paul has held senior positions with leading convention bureaus from across the world, including London & Partners and NYC & Company, and heading the MICE team at destination representation company; Hills Balfour MMGY.
